Radio Paperwork

I have had  a really busy week sorting the paperwork out for radio, due to me being the producer! I wrote two versions of the script and did a final one with Jade. We also wrote the cues which the presenters will be using on the day of our show. I also re-did a running order for the fourth time, hopefully this is the final one! Last but not least the final piece of paperwork; the music copyright form has been completed. Which believe it or not the publisher is harder to find than you think! Overall I’m pleased with my paperwork and have worked really hard to ensure that everything is up to scratch and ready for our show!

Running Orders

I have also completed the running orders as this is an essential for a radio show. I thought very carefully about where different items have been placed throughout the script so that there is a fair balance and the audience will not get bored easily. Our shows going to be great!

Contacting Interviewees

I Contacted an awful lot of people to try and interview for my radio show. First of all Goodies of Lincoln was a success and Richard (the owner) was very helpful and so one package has been record for our show. I also emailed Toys R Us as I wanted to interview them about 90’s toys sales and if they have decreased since modern technology, sadly I contacted the head office and they would not give me permission to do this. However I then went into Lincoln central to a local games shop called ‘Gotham Games’ and they agreed to do a live report broadcast, nevertheless this is no longer going ahead due to the time of our radio show and not enough staff being in to be interviewed whilst customers are there. I also emailed a newark museum to see if they had anything 90’s related that would be of interest to our show, however this was an air museum and it wasn’t really applicable.

I emailed BBC Lincolnshire, as I worked there last year on a placement and so I asked if they could put me in contact with anyone who was apart of the 90’s nostalgia! They emailed back and recommended a tribute band called ultra 90’s who are now one of our live interviewees for the show which should be very interesting to hear what they have to say!

Another person who I contacted was SirenFM presenter Paul Tyler who is also going to be one of our live interviewees on the day. We are going to see if radio has developed since the 90’s and what he favours and loves about this era.

A local DJ called Matt is also going to be coming in to be interviewed on the day about his experience and why he loves being a 90’s DJ. So therefore there are lots of interesting sections to our show throughout.

I also contacted Jim Penistan who is the owner of a music record shop called ‘Back to Mono’ which this package has now been recorded and edited and so we now have two packages for our radio show complete!

I also followed a few people on twitter such as Caitlin Moran and Miranda Soya to try and see if they could possibly be an interviewee for our show, but sadly I never got a reply.

I have also emailed Steps, S club 7 and many more to try and get interesting interviewees but I never got a reply.

Once again I emailed the BBC to see if anyone who was apart of top of the pops programme was available on november 5th for an interview, I was given contact details for certain people apart of this programme but due to the date (bonfire night) they are all busy and doing their own things!

Furthermore I am also in the process of arranging a telephone interview with Simon Mason after speaking to his PA. This will be used as a backup for our show, as a contingency plan is never a bad thing to have!

Nevertheless everything seems to be coming together very nicely and I look forward to broadcasting live on the day!

Script

I scripted a draft last week to give to the presenters so that they could bullet point their ideas so that the show wouldn’t sound scripted!

The presenters then read through it and summarised it, which I then went back and edited again to ensure it was entertaining!

Recording our 90’s sweet package.

Me (the producer) and Jade (one of the presenters) went out early this morning to go to a local sweet shop before opening time. It is called ‘Goodies of Lincoln’ and Richard the owner was very helpful and interesting to record interviews with.

I felt like this day has been very productive as we now have a voxpop package, and our first main sweet package has been recorded and edited. Therefore we are on track to a great organised radio show!!
